There are a lot of assumptions on both the left and the right about what a second term for Obama would look like. While we are still months away from what is likely to be a closely-fought election, this article draws on presidential history to understand what kinds of policy strategy that Obama might undertake if he is reelected.

  1. Seems like a bit of a depressing commentary on the presidency. "no one cares what he does after 2014" Reallly? He is still president of the united states. Also makes you see how little he can accomplish even if EVERYTHING goes right.

  2. It is remarkably depressing. The fact that we have elections every 2 years and that means we invariably will have legislative stalemate is a pretty serious indict of our political system.

  3. The interesting thing is the 2 STAUNCH republicans I know seem to think this ok. "We have the "best" democracy in the world." is the standard answer. They seem not to be swayed by a reminder that hubris and ignoring problems with "well we're the best still" is how both companies and countries collapse.
