Longread #195 -- As Not Seen on TV -- 11/14/12

I have a soft spot for "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives," but I think Guy Fieri bit off more than he could chew (da-dun-CHING) with his enormous new restaurant in New York. Enjoy this hilarious review that is as over-the-top and bombastic as Guy himself.

  1. Haha! Great review.

One of the comments at the bottom brought up an the point that tourists are most likely going to eat there in order to tell their friends back home 'I ate at Guy Fieri's restaurant.'

Where do you think the line is between being a 5-star restaurant and being able to rake in the cash from tourists whether you serve great food or crap? How much is the quality of the restaurant going to affect business and Guy Fieri's reputation/TV show in general?

  2. If the food really sucks word will get around. As much as I don't care to dive in because it's the hip place the fact of the matter is most of the trendy food places i have been are amazing. I just spent a good couple of minutes trying to find another review to see if everyone hated it but sadly the only reviews are saying "see new york times"
